As the spring semester rolls in at full force, it’s important to find a good place to focus and get to work. So, where are the best study spots on campus?

Whether bustling with conversation or filled with quiet studiers, the ideal study environment is subjective based on each student’s personal preferences. Kennesaw State University addresses this subjectivity by providing students with a variety of locations on campus for completing coursework.

Sturgis Library’s First Floor

The first floor of the Sturgis Library is predominantly a computer lab, with side rooms designated for meetings or assemblies. Many students who do not have access to a laptop usually flock here for the rows and rows of available desktop computers.

If you find yourself needing to complete a quick assignment while on campus, stopping by the computers in Sturgis is the best decision.

Watching YouTube or just surfing the web is also a viable activity, as many students use the enormous room purely for entertainment purposes. However, rushing to complete last-minute quizzes is likely the best use of your time on the Sturgis Library’s first floor.

Sturgis Library’s Third Floor

The most popular spot to unwind on campus is undoubtedly the Sturgis Library, and it’s central location is perfect for maximal accessibility.

Sturgis operates as a hub for students to relax, do schoolwork or simply hang out in its rentable private rooms. Groups of students talk, study and even rehearse their presentations for class in the library’s private rooms.

The third floor of the building is also many students’ go-to place for quiet and focus-heavy activities. You’ll occasionally see people creating music on digital audio workstations or eating food in one of the study area’s designated cubbies.

Sturgis Library’s third floor is a great recommendation for anyone who doesn’t mind a large number of people working in tandem with near-complete silence.

Loft Lounge

Kennesaw State’s Loft Lounge, located on the third floor of the Carmichael Student Center, is one of the best casual hangout spaces on campus.

It’s a safe space for students to play cards, board games and video games. Many students also gather to eat together at some of the space’s round tables.

Smaller tables near the entrance of the room are where you’ll typically find diligent crammers hacking away at their keyboards or drinking a Starbucks coffee.

For those who enjoy a little social ambience while doing coursework, there isn’t a better location on campus than the Loft Lounge.

Carmichael Student Center’s Quiet Study Room

Located directly across from the Market, the Carmichael Student Center’s largest study room sees nearly as much student involvement as the Sturgis Library.

Unlike the Sturgis third floor, however, talking and general conversation are a central part of this room’s dynamic. While the volume is not as overbearing as in the Loft, the Carmichael Study Room still showcases a bit of sound for those still looking for aspects of a social atmosphere.

It also has most diverse range of student activities compared to the other two, so making friends may be this spot’s best prospect.

Academic Learning Center

In addition to seminar rooms and halls filled with chairs, the Academic Learning Center is home to multiple “Academic Affair” rooms that feature study cabinets. Attached to these rooms is Kennesaw State’s signature SMART Center: a place for students to be tutored in classes they might be struggling in.

Multiple unattended group study rooms reside on the third and fourth floors of the building, making it one of the best choices on campus for a quick group study session.

Gazebo

For a majority of students, the Gazebo is a personal favorite for studying in the warmer weather. Usually, this space is completely quiet aside from a few events throughout the semester.

Listening to passing conversations is a major plus for students who do not want a traditionally silent atmosphere for their ideal study space. Benches near the Gazebo also draw in students looking for a more secluded space for studying.

Many times throughout the day, the shadow from the English building falls on the Gazebo, making the area perfectly cool during the warmer months.

Try these study spaces for yourself!

When you walk into a building you’ve never explored, there’s so much to uncover. Not only may you stumble upon your ideal study space, but you may also discover new friends and activities.

It’s time to discover Kennesaw campus’ most luxurious study spots and find the space that works best for you!
