Best of The Sentinel: Dining Orders

Anna Shoup – Arts & Living Editor

I am a superfan of the Acai Primo bowl from Jamba Juice and the veggie sushi roll from Hissho Sushi in The Market. I also love to order a tofu bowl with pickled jalapenos and all the fixings from Moe’s, and a chocolate croissant and iced almond milk latte from Starbuck’s. True North energy drinks from vending machines around campus also hold an extra special place in my heart, no matter how few machines actually carry them.

My go-to is always Chick-fil-A! I always get nuggets, fries and a cookie. It makes production days a little more fun to have a treat. Other than that, I really love the turkey and cheddar sandwiches from The Market! I get the sandwich with lemonade and it is a perfect lunch!

I’m a firm believer in getting a little treat to sip on through the day. My top picks this year have been an iced white chocolate mocha from the social sciences Starbucks or a Smooth Talkin’ Mango smoothie with vanilla coconut milk from Jamba. I’m also never opposed to a chef’s special roll from Hissho with a side of seaweed salad when I need actual sustenance.

Since I’ve been coming to KSU, I have literally had the same thing for lunch every time I come to school: The Spicy California Roll at Hisso Sushi in The Market and a sweet tea. I can’t seem to branch out and get anything else. I’m pretty addicted.

My favorite restaurant to order from is Jamba Juice! Ever since it was introduced that Jamba would be opening, I knew that it would soon become one of my favorites. My all-time favorite thing to order is an açaí bowl with a waffle and maybe occasionally one of their smoothies. I love going in the morning and early afternoon because it gives me just the boost that I need!

My favorite on-campus dining is either the sandwich place in the Commons or Jamba Juice. I am allergic to gluten, so I love how allergy inclusive KSU is. At the sandwich place I get a sandwich on gluten free bread, and at Jamba Juice I love a strawberry-banana smoothie. Then of course whenever I’m at the Commons I always get one of the gluten free deserts and a brown sugar iced latte with oatmilk.

I don’t have a meal plan as I am a commuter student, so I don’t eat on campus often, but my favorite thing that I’ll occasionally get is a large Chick-fil-A waffle fry. I’m pescatarian so my options are somewhat limited outside of The Commons, which I just am not going to pay for on a regular basis when I don’t have a meal plan.

My favorite thing to order on campus is a plate from Panda Express with orange and teriyaki chicken and fried rice. It’s usually my go-to because it’s good, reasonably priced and close to the newsroom.

The day the McAlister’s Deli opened on campus was a day that should go down in the KSU history books. McAlister’s has always been a favorite of mine, so the convenience of having it on campus is a game changer. My order will always be a “Choose Two” consisting of a half French Dip and a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. Then, I will sometimes wash it down with an iced vanilla latte with oat milk from Starbucks.

I would say my go-to dining spots on campus would be Panda Express and Moes in the student center. Most of the organizations I’m a part of are located there, so those two places are my easy go-to’s to put some food in me! If anyone knows me, I almost always have coffee in my hand; so, Starbucks is definitely a place I go to a lot as well.
