From News Releases – Kennesaw Parks & Recreation and Ambush Board Company are partnering to host a skateboarding event Tuesday, June 21, 10 am – 1 pm at Kennesaw Skatepark.
Local rippers, veteran shredders, and spectators are invited to help celebrate ‘Go Skateboarding Day’ — the official holiday of skateboarding. The event will feature open skate sessions, best trick contests with cool prizes, giveaways, games, music and food vending. The free, public event is hosted by Kennesaw Parks & Recreation in partnership with Ambush Board Co. Pre-registration is not required to enter the contests.

Go Skateboarding Day, held on June 21 every year, is the official holiday of skateboarding. Founded by the International Association of Skateboard Companies (IASC), Go Skateboarding Day gives passionate skateboarders as well as those who are simply inspired by the sport the opportunity to drop everything and get on a skateboard. It is a cooperative of decentralized events that take place around the globe. Skateboard retailers, manufacturers, skateparks, distributors, organizations and individuals of all colors, creeds, and attitudes hold events to celebrate the holiday.

‘Kung Fu Panda 3’ to Screen at Swift-Cantrell Park
The City of Kennesaw’s free Outdoor Movie Series at Swift-Cantrell Park continues on Saturday, June 4 with DreamWorks’ “Kung Fu Panda 3” (rated PG).
The third installment in the beloved animated franchise features the return of Jack Black as the voice of Po, the heroic panda bear, as well as vocal contributions by Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Lucy Liu and Bryan Cranston.
The movie will be projected onto a giant inflatable screen after sundown. Arrive at 6 pm for pre-movie entertainment, giveaways, and outdoor fun. Moviegoers should bring a blanket or low-back chairs. Pop-up tents, canopies, or beach umbrellas that can obstruct the view of others are not permitted. Concessions will be available for purchase.
Swift-Cantrell Park is located at 3140 Old 41 Highway. Parking is available inside the park and at neighboring Kennesaw Elementary School.
The final movie in the family-friendly series presented by WellStar is “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” (rated PG-13) on Saturday, October 15.
