KENNESAW — You haven’t gotten an oil change in a while, have you? Me neither, and I’m almost ashamed to admit that in writing. However, there’s good news for all of us: Grease Monkey is launching a special initiative on April 23 known as “Oil Change Day,” aimed at encouraging students and faculty to stay on top of routine maintenance and get their oil changed. Each participating locations in the local Atlanta area will offer a full synthetic oil change for $49.99.
“April 23rd was strategic in part because its national car care month,” says Stacey Pool, Chief Marketing Officer for FullSpeed Automotive. “We wanted to make sure that we were able to celebrate the month but also give our customers and new customers a day to celebrate by getting an oil change at a reasonable price.”
Grease Monkey is an American automotive service that handles drive-through oil changes and other forms of maintenance, including fluid checks, air filter replacements and basic preventative care.
Oil Change Day through Grease Monkey also comes as global oil prices rise amid conflict in the Middle East and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, giving Georgians who have put off routine maintenance an opportunity to finally get their oil changed.
Jhe’Rell Daise, the District Manager for the Marietta area through Grease Monkey, spoke to The Sentinel about how he felt Oil Change Day could help students and help push the longevity of a vehicle’s lifespan through proper maintenance.
“Oil Change Day is a significant day in this area. First of all, because we’re right here by Kennesaw State, and that comes with college students trying to make a new life,” Daise said. “When you have students who are here taking classes and are away from their parents or guardians, it’s good to give them a neighborhood shop with a family feel they can trust.”
According to CARFAX data cited from 2025, 20% of vehicles nation-wide are behind on oil changes, which could lead to engine damage or further expenses on vehicles without proper maintenance. Grease Monkey, according to Pool, hopes to remedy that with their licensed technicians.
“Success for us looks like getting people in our doors to experience the amazing services we offer,” Pool said. “Grease Monkey is known for our service. We know we can do more than just an oil change.”
For Daise, he saw success of the day through ensuring customers’ needs are properly met and satisfied through the work of technicians across the Atlanta area.
“Everyone around me from my district, my peers and my bosses know that I’m big on customer service,” Daise said. “So, what would make me happy is knowing that the customers were educated on preventive care, not on how much money we got. I’m always about customer retention and I’m always going to get new customers in there and wow them.”
