Unique thrift shops, antique stores near campus

Vintage clothing and quirky knickknacks are trending now more than ever. These shops are wonderful places to find original clothing pieces and antiques that make a statement.

Ecologie Vintage & Resale

Two miles from the Kennesaw campus, Ecologie Vintage & Resale is hidden in a small shopping center near Town Center at Cobb. Their warm atmosphere and friendly staff make the shopping experience excellent. Walls are lined with higher-priced rare, vintage pieces, but the majority of their clothes are sold at a decent price.

Spacious dressing rooms are available as well, with a button on the mirror that allows you to adjust the lighting in the room. They carry all sizes from petite to plus-size. Staff members carefully examine each article of clothing to create a great blend of styles for customers to choose from.

“We accept primarily vintage and casual clothing. We typically aim to cater to Kennesaw State students, and are currently looking for spring and summer items,” an Ecologie employee for over five years, Alden Fasola said.

Although Ecologie is known for its high-quality clothing pieces, they also carry an assortment of bags, shoes and knickknacks.

Antiques On The Square

Six and a half miles from campus sits the most charming antique store in Marietta: Antiques On The Square. This is a wonderful place for those who are new to buying from second-hand stores. From top to bottom, the walls are lined with used books, CDs, film cameras, jewelry, art and any sort of trinket imaginable.

They offer a small selection of vintage band tees; sizes depend on what people have brought to be sold. Selling to Antiques On The Square might be difficult due to their high standards, but this is what makes their inventory better than other shops. To add to their quaint scenery, a record shop is located in the back with just about any record you could imagine.

Park West Vintage

They are known for their original furniture, jewelry, paintings and a ton of light fixtures that hang from their ceiling. Each item is different from the others and, despite the items’ antiquity, everything sold is in great condition. The staff is always willing to help their customers find what they are searching for.

Uptown Cheapskate

Three miles from campus is the best way for students to earn money by selling their old clothes: Uptown Cheapskate. They buy in-style clothes in good condition for cash or store credit. The staff is very helpful, explaining to customers what styles and items they are looking to purchase each season. Staff members are not too picky about what they choose to buy and do not require appointments, just be sure to bring your government-issued ID. Sizes vary from petite sizes to plus sizes, and dressing rooms are available to try on your finds. Shoes, bags and accessories are sold as well.
