Theater Spring 2018 season has something for everyone

Kennesaw State’s Department of Theatre and Performance Studies will put on eight shows throughout the spring semester starting Jan. 25, 2018.

The first show of the spring semester will feature “Rooted” by internationally acclaimed performance artist, Tim Miller. “Rooted” is a one-man show that takes a humorous and passionate look at gay identity and liberation in the United States. The show will run Jan. 25-27 at the Stillwell Theater. Tickets can be bought online at arts.kennesaw.edu/theatre for $5-20.

“Feathers and Teeth” by Charise Castro Smith tells the story of a 15-year-old girl named Chris and an unknown injured animal that wants to kill her troubled family. The show will run Feb. 13-18. All shows will take place at the Onyx Theater with tickets going for $5-12 available online.

“As You Like It” by William Shakespeare follows lovers Rosalind and Orlando who are forced into exile in the Forest of Arden where they become entangled in a beguiling game of love, lust and mistaken identity. The play runs March 20-25. All shows will take place at the Stillwell Theater, and tickets can be bought online for $5-20.

Kennesaw Improv Society Stupid! is KSU’s improv ensemble. The group will welcome guest artists to bring in the spring with lots of laughs. This event may not be suitable for audiences under the age of 16. This event is free and runs April 13-14 at the Onyx Theater.

10-Minute PlayFest is a night of original, student-written 10-minute plays on April 21 at 8 p.m. at the Stillwell Theater. Tickets cost $5.

KSU Tellers Spring Showcase is a selection of favorite storytelling performances from the spring semester. The showcase is a two-night event, April 27-28, at 8 p.m. at the Onyx Theater. Tickets cost $5.

The last show of the spring season is a Musical Theatre Showcase where musical theater students will perform selected works from the 2017-2018 school year. The free showcase is on April 29 at 7 p.m. at the Stillwell Theater.
