Simon Pritchard voted ‘Best Male Athlete’ by Kennesaw campus

Every year, The Sentinel asks hundreds of students from both campuses about their favorite places to eat, drink and hang out. The Sentinel’s “Best of KSU” issue encompasses students’ favorite aspects of KSU and the surrounding community. In 2017, Simon Pritchard was voted Best Male Athlete by the Kennesaw campus students.

Senior tennis player Simon Pritchard has been voted the Best Male Athlete by the Kennesaw campus.

In high school, Pritchard posted a ranking of 748th in the world, and now the Wales native and economics major is ending his decorated career at KSU.

Off the tennis court, Pritchard has excelled in the classroom as well, earning ASUN First Team All-Conference and Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar Athlete as a freshman. In his sophomore year, Pritchard earned ASUN Scholar-Athlete of the Year and also earned a spot on the ASUN Academic All-Conference Team.

In his junior year, he was named ASUN Co-Scholar Athlete of the Year.

“I’ve worked hard in the classroom and getting into the Coles College of Business is a blessing,” Pritchard said. “I’m very grateful for that.”

As a sophomore, he was named ASUN All-Conference Doubles Team, along with ASUN Player of the Week in April of that year. As a big part of the Owls tennis team, he led in singles matches with a record of 11-7 at the No. 1 position, including a win over the No. 73 ranked ITA player from Georgia Tech.

“KSU has been unbelievable, I’ve been very lucky here,” Pritchard said.

His most prized accolade came after his junior year, when he was unanimously named to the ASUN First Team All-Conference team.

As Pritchard’s senior year comes to a close, he looks to capitalize on his last conference championship run and believes his teammates will help.

“This has been our most successful season at KSU and my teammates have been fantastic. They have been the best I could ask for,” Pritchard said. “This season has been unbelievable, and our goal is to win the conference.”

On behalf, congratulations on being named Best Male Athlete!
