Men’s basketball stumbles against Bethune-Cookman

Kennesaw State’s men’s basketball team fell short and lost 75-72 to Bethune-Cookman University on Wednesday, November 16 night at The Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Redshirt senior forward Aubrey Williams led the Owls with a double-double accounting for 15 points and 15 rebounds. Williams has come down with an impressive 35 rebounds during the last two games.

Three other players scored in double figures including freshman forward Johannes Nielsen, who came off the bench for the Owls.

The Owls (1-2) put themselves in a hole in the first half by only shooting 36 percent from the field and 14 percent from the 3-point line. The Wildcats led by nine at the break and increased their lead to 16 as the second half rolled on.

The Owls offense came alive in the second half as they shot 60 percent from the field and outscored the Wildcats 49-43.

With 2:54 minutes left, the Owls tied the game at 67 and held the Wildcats (1-1) to only one field goal in the last two minutes of the game but they made eight free-throws to seal the game.

Kennesaw State will take on Alabama State University (0-3) at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at the Convocation Center.
