Highpoint Café, a new Kennesaw State dining option located on the first floor of The Summit Residence Hall, opened on March 18.
The restaurant offers a new unique option that has not been used before: students can use money, dining dollars, or pay with just a meal swipe for their meal.
Highpoint Cafe stays open longer than most of the other KSU dining options on Monday through Thursday, giving students another dining option to choose from after 9 p.m. It also is another KSU dining option for students on Saturday and Sunday. All the other options, except The Commons and Stingers, are closed on weekends.
Highpoint Cafe is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m.
The menu has signature breakfast items. Students can choose a stuffed French toast option like the “Maple Bacon” which has stuffed Brioche bread topped with bacon, whipped cream and maple syrup. The rest of the food offered on the menu are cheese fries, salads, and signature burgers like “The Scrappy” featuring a Highpoint Café original, “Scrappy Sauce.”
These made-to-order specialty items on Highpoint Cafe’s menu add a new unique feature to KSU dining.
Jaeden Tolliver, a KSU freshman, said the meal swipes offered in place of money at Highpoint Café and how good the food tastes makes the new dining option special. He also said that he personally enjoyed the menu options at Highpoint Cafe more than other dining options. It has only been a week since it opened, and he has been there five times.
“I was very impressed with Highpoint from the very beginning,” said KSU student, Nana Yeboah. “Everything from the design down to the service is really good. It differentiates from other dining options offered because firstly, it is a convenient food option for residents that live in the Summit. Secondly, Highpoint takes swipes while the other dining options do not. This gives us something to use our swipes on other than the Commons.”
Highpoint Cafe is a nine minute walk from The Commons and a six minute walk from the James V. Carmichael Student Center. Freshmen that stay in The Summit residence hall now can just go downstairs to get a meal instead of having to walk all the way to the student center, ALC, Burrus Building or The Commons.
