Jamba Juice opens on Kennesaw Campus

Jamba Juice made its grand opening on Jan. 17 in the James V. Carmichael Student Center, offering more variety for students and faculty craving something new on campus.

Located between Panda Express and Moe’s, students and staff were lined up on the opening day, eager to place orders for a smoothie or bowl. After students placed their order, they had a chance to win prizes such as a water bottle, sunglasses or a free charger.

The establishment’s hours are 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. On Fridays, the location closes at 2 p.m. The space that Jamba Juice now occupies was previously used by Hissho Sushi which has since relocated to The Market for in-person ordering only.

Student Mayra Sanchez waited about an hour for her drink and emphasized how the healthy establishment was the perfect addition to the campus.

“I was very excited because I really like fruit juices,” Sanchez said. “When I would go out of state I was always drinking smoothies so it was the perfect timing that they opened it now because I was already used to it.”

Sanchez ordered the ginger shot, one of three that are available in 2-ounce servings. This Jamba Juice location offers an array of classic, plant-based and Super Blend smoothies as well as bowls, juices and shots. There are also iced beverage options such as the Gotcha Matcha and the Bold ‘n Cold Brew. Breakfast foods are also available, like Belgian Waffles, the Spring Veggie Egg Bake, a Sweet Pretzel, the Classic sausage Sandwich or its vegetarian Impossible Sandwich alternate.

Sanchez shared that it was a good idea that Kennesaw State opened a Jamba Juice because it gives students a healthier option if they aren’t seeking fast food.

Student Nancy Sosa attended the opening and was very excited about trying Jamba Juice for the first time. She enjoyed the self-ordering feature of the location because of its efficiency. Order-ahead is also available to customers on the GrubHub app.

“I got the Smooth Talkin’ Mango Smoothie with whey protein. I also tried the island pitaya bowl and I really liked it. I would go back for the açaí bowl.” Sosa said.

Last year, the Marietta campus opened a Jamba Juice smoothie machine. Students place their orders on the screen, while the robotic machine prepares their orders.

Within the last year, KSU also opened McCallister’s Deli in the A.L. Burrus Building, Cinnabon in the Academic Learning Center and Dunkin’ Donuts in the Joe Mack Wilson Student Center on the Marietta campus.
