Men’s Basketball victorious against Jacksonville

Kennesaw State won its second consecutive game against the Jacksonville Dolphins by a score of 81-68. 

Senior Guard Terrell Burden led the owls in scoring with 20 points, shooting a very efficient 6/9 from the field, and going 7/8 from the free-throw line.  Chris Youngblood and Demond Robinson were also major contributors to the Owls’ scoring. 

Youngblood supplied the Owls with 15 points and was red hot from three-point range going 5/6 from beyond the arc. Robinson also had 15 points going 6/10 from the field. 

The Owls had a very efficient night shooting from the field shooting 59% from the field, and about 37% from three-point range. The Owls also scored 38 of their 81 points in the point. 

The Owls started off the game going on a 13-5 scoring run with 13:53 left in the first half. Kennesaw’s largest lead in the first half was 11 points. The Dolphins eventually cut that lead to 5 giving the Owls and 38-33 lead at halftime. 

KSU started off the second half going on an 8-2 run giving them a 46-35 lead with 16:11 left in the second half after a made layup by Burden. 

The Jacksonville Dolphins then went on an 8-2 run after the Owls run led by Jordan Davis cutting the lead to 5 again 48-43 with 14:11 left in the second half. 

The Owls eventually increased their lead to 10 after a made three-pointer by Youngblood giving Kennesaw a 53-43 with 13:17 left in the game. 

The Dolphins wouldn’t just go away as they kept fighting their way back in the game giving them a 5-point deficit of 55-50 with 10:47 left in the game. 

Robinson gave the Owls a huge momentum boost after throwing down a monster dunk following an offensive rebound giving the Owls a 58-50 lead with 10:13 left in the game. 

Junior Guard Quincy Ademokoya carried the momentum after an alley-oop dunk assisted by Burden giving the Owls once again a 60-50 lead with 8:37 left in the game forcing Jacksonville to call a timeout. 

Following the timeout, the Owls increased their lead from 10 to 12 with just over 5 minutes left.

The game eventually got out of reach as KSU took a 15-point lead 77-62 after Burden dunk with 2:04 left in the game. 

The Owls increases their record to 12-6, and also 4-1 in the ASUN Conference. Jacksonville Dolphins fall to 9-7. 

KSU will continue their season on the road at Stetson in DeLand, FL. The matchup will occur Thursday, Jan. 19 at 7 p.m.
