Rising country music artist hosts concert for Kennesaw State students to promote new EP

A rising country music artist, Dylan Schneider performed his new song “College Town” at Lost Dog Tavern on March 31 to mark the Kennesaw State stop along his College Town Tour.

Schneider has been performing at colleges throughout the Southeast since March 22 and bar hopping to play songs off of his new extended play (EP) also suitably named “College Town.” It was released on March 18 and only four days later Schneider was on the road to begin his tour of a total of eight college towns.

The EP features five songs total and four other than the titular track: “Girls Country,” “21 and Over,” “Lost In A Small Town” and “Right Girl” which all offer a pop-country sound that would fit in seamlessly on any country radio station today.

He wrote four out of the five songs with his past relationships in mind and with the perspective of, in his words, “just getting older and looking back on life.” He stated that “College Town is 100 percent specifically about [him]” and his friends’ experiences. “College Town” the song was co-written with Schneider’s high school baseball teammate and friend, Gabe Foust who he now lives with in Nashville, Tennesee.

The performance at Lost Dog Tavern consisted of three songs including “College Town” and “Momma’s House” by Dustin Lynch, to which Schneider contributed in songwriting. Schneider had the majority of the outdoor crowd congregated near the front of the stage during his act then spent the remainder of his time in the Tavern getting to know the people who showed up to hear him play.

He described the tour so far as “such a unique touring experience” and “like the college experience [he] never really got to have.” Schneider has been interactive with his fans new and old along this journey, allowing students to get to know an off-stage side of him and share a bar tab with him all while sharing his music.

Schneider is a 22-year-old singer and songwriter from Indiana who began writing songs as young as 14 years of age. He first started to gain a following by posting videos on Facebook covering popular country songs.

He has since toured with big artists in the country music scene such as Florida Georgia Line and Granger Smith. He was inspired in his youth by a wide range of musical artists from Brett Eldridge to Nickelback but has now found his niche in country music.

When speaking about his fans and the people he has met on the road he remains “very thankful that people love what [he does]” with his music and the story he tells with it.

According to Schneider, “College Town” is his favorite project of his to date but he is not stopping there. Schneider is working to release a full album on the road to becoming a country music star.
