Owls soar above Wofford Terriers third time in a row

The Kennesaw State Owls took on the Wofford Terriers in a brutal defensive match-up, resulting in a 31-10 Owl victory on Saturday night.

Quarterback Xavier Shepherd and the Owl nest garnered their newest win in a gritty battle against Wofford’s offense and defense. The Owls’ defensive line sunk their talons into the Terriers on Saturday evening. Running back Irving Smith stunningly forced a first down conversion.

Defensive back Cole Loden intercepted the ball, suddenly turning things around for Owl Nation. The first quarter ended scoreless, however, this only motivated the Owls.

In the second quarter, running back Nykeem Farrow burst through, rushing to the first down. Running back Preston Daniels steamrolled Wofford players as he pushed through the pile. Wide Receiver Caleb O’Neal shined through scoring a touchdown for the Owls. Robertson successfully scored a 23-yard field goal for KSU.

In the third quarter, quarterback Xavier Shepherd handed it off to running back Kyle Glover to rush right into the end zone. Glover was increasingly explosive as he almost rushed for yet another touchdown, but instead settling for a 32-yard run. Terrell Paxton recovered a fumble by the Owls.

In the last quarter of the game, running back Iaan Cousin raced into the end zone scoring a 33-yard touchdown, pulling Kennesaw to a steep lead of 24-3. With this win, Kennesaw gained their third consecutive win against Wofford. Kennesaw earned their ninth straight non-conference road win. The Owls also reached new heights with this victory adding to their streak against South Carolina teams.

The Owls rushed for a total of 343 yards. The offense racked up 418 yards. A total of 21 first downs for Saturday’s game. Kennesaw State extends their record to 2-1 for the 2021-22 season.

KSU is set to have a bye week this upcoming week. Post bye week, the Owls will move on to face Jacksonville State at Fifth Third Bank Stadium in Kennesaw, Georgia on Saturday, Oct. 2. This matchup will start at 3 p.m. The game will be eligible to watch on ESPN+ and the KSU Owls app.
