Hockey defeats rival UGA

The Kennesaw State men’s club ice hockey team defeated its rival, the University of Georgia, in an impressive 9-3 victory on Saturday.

In Saturday’s match-up, the Owls scored three goals in all three periods to keep UGA winless on the season. KSU continued its dominant performance this season, winning three straight.

Since falling 3-2 in a loss to Ole Miss, the Owls have been successful — especially on offense — scoring nine goals against UGA and 11 goals against the University of North Carolina.

With the bulk of KSU’s roster returning from last season, it has great team chemistry on the ice. The team boasts 17 goalscorers in its first four games, and it looks fluid, sharing the puck and the wealth. David Bousquet and Evan Dier lead all goalscorers with four goals apiece.

“Bousquet has been the top point-getter these last few seasons, and he is continuing that this season as well,” forward Alex Dolhon said. “We have great depth this year and everyone can put the puck in the net, which has helped in our team’s success.”

The Owls pride themselves in capitalizing on their opponents mistakes. Dolhon claims the team’s power-play units are playing really well, executing on almost every power play so far this season.

“We are going to continue to bump and grind like we have been doing this year so far,” Dolhon said. “If we play our game, we will get two more W’s against EKU next weekend.”

The Owls hope to continue their success next week against Eastern Kentucky University, on Friday, Oct. 6 at 10 p.m. and Saturday, Oct. 7 at 10 p.m. All KSU ice hockey games are held at the IceForum at Town Center.
