A military recruiting center near Kennesaw State University alerted campus police as well as the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after a man entered the office displaying disturbing and aggressive behavior.
According to reports, a man who was in a visibly unstable state of mind entered the Marine recruiting office across from the Kennesaw campus on Chastain Road and began to wander around the office seeking the person in charge. After asking the man to seat himself in the lobby to wait for a recruiter, office staff told police that they were concerned that the man might have had ulterior motives.
The man had previously served in the armed forces, according to police reports, and recruiters determined that he could not reenlist due to his dishonorable discharge. Records indicate the man was discharged because of too many absences at drill sessions during his service.
The female recruiter who met with the man told police that she asked him to leave after she noticed that he was recording their conversation on his phone and after he invited her out for drinks.
“Don’t you ever come in here and do that again,” the recruiter reportedly told the man.
The Marine Recruitment Office filed a security report with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, and the Investigations Unit is looking into the man.
