Police say a student thought he was being generous when he gave two women money for a charity, but he quickly learned the importance of researching a cause before you donate.
A woman approached the student near the University Village Suites, according to reports, and told him that she was collecting donations for poor children in Mexico. The student told police he walked away after giving the girl $50.
He was then approached by another woman who claimed that she was also raising money for less fortunate kids in Mexico. According to police, she demanded that the student sign a piece of paper and pressured him to give her another $50.
After speaking with the student, police looked for the two women but were unable to find them. A hundred dollars later, the student learned a lesson in trusting strangers.
