Florida Gulf Coast University defeated Kennesaw State 75-63 Feb. 11 on its home turf in Fort Myers, Florida.
Owls redshirt senior forward Aubrey Williams collected his 16th double-double of the season with 16 points and 11 rebounds. He also became the single-season rebound record holder for Kennesaw State with 289 rebounds.
Redshirt senior guard Kendrick Ray returned to action after missing the previous game with an injury and led the Owls with 19 points. He has led the team in scoring in 16 games this season.
Florida Gulf Coast University (20-7, 9-2 ASUN) got off to a quick start as they led early in the game, but the Owls fought their way back and led 21-20 early in the first half.
Kennesaw State (12-15, 6-5 ASUN) came out of the locker room red-hot with an 8-0 run to start the second half, but the Eagles answered back with a 13-2 run of their own. The Owls couldn’t make enough plays on the defensive end, ending any hopes of a Kennesaw comeback.
The Owls currently sit in fourth place in the ASUN Conference and will close out the regular season by playing their next three games at home. KSU will face Jacksonville University on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 p.m.
