An officer noticed an odor of marijuana that appeared to be coming from the woods on the Kennesaw campus Oct. 30.
After turning around, however, the officer realized that the smell was coming from the west parking deck. According to police reports, the officer observed a vehicle in the parking deck and thought it was strange, since it was on a Sunday.
The officer followed the car as it drove away from the parking deck, and the smell of marijuana became more apparent as she tailed the vehicle.
The car failed to obey a traffic sign and was pulled over. The driver did not roll down his window. Instead, he held his driver’s license up at a visible angle through the glass.
Once the officer finally got the driver to roll down the window, the smell of marijuana was unmistakable. After being questioned about suspicious activity and the odor, the two males in the vehicle admitted that they had been smoking earlier but never in the car.
During a search of the vehicle, the officer found a small marijuana bud behind the passenger’s seat and a pink pill.
The driver claimed that the pill belonged to his brother, but he was placed under arrest since he did not have a prescription. The passenger was released from the scene and allowed to take the car home.
