The first fall mixer held by the Joel A. Katz Music and Entertainment Business Program on Thursday, Oct. 27 was filled with music, trivia and entertainers.
The MEBUS program provides the foundation of practical experience, on-the-job training and exploration of career opportunities in the music and entertainment industry.
MEBUS mixers are open to all students, especially those interested in the program. Even for students who aren’t interested in entering the music industry, these mixers are a fun opportunity to socialize and listen to live music from local talent.
Thursday night’s mixer featured four acts:
- independent artist Elizabeth Raps.
- Daniel Saylee, also known by his stage name King Silas.
- Caycee Woodard.
- the duo known as Paisley, composed of Brittany Griffith and Simon Needle.
Each group had about 15 minutes to perform for the audience with genres that varied from acoustic to rap mixed with spoken word.
After listening to the performers and mingling, attendees moved from the den to the MEBUS classroom and participated in Halloween-themed trivia. The winning duo won a coffee mug and a novel by L.A Reid.
“[It] was really chill and had a coffeehouse vibe. Everyone just kind of mingled and listened to music,” said Amanda Sandfelder, a junior international affairs major. “[My favorite part was] discovering new music and the talents that we have among the campus here at Kennesaw State.”
Whether you’re a fan of rap, indie acoustic or rock, you’ll be sure to find your niche at any of the MEBUS mixers. More information about the next mixer can be found on the program’s Instagram account at @ksumebus.
