Among the Week of Welcome events at Kennesaw State, Meeting the Greeks stood out as an opportunity for new students to mingle with potential brothers and sisters.
The majority of KSU’s Greek organizations were present to share information and free candy.
Fraternities and sororities in attendance at Meeting the Greeks stressed the importance of service, community and leadership, as well as brotherhood and sisterhood. Members also promoted the organizations’ social media accounts.
KSU is home to all of the Divine Nine, including Alpha Phi Alpha, Phi Beta Sigma and Kappa Alpha Psi. The founding dates for these organizations vary from 1906 to 1963, but they all made their way to Kennesaw’s campus in late 2009.
The different Greek councils at KSU include the Collegiate Panhellenic Council, the Interfraternity Council, the National Pan-Hellenic Council and the Multicultural Greek Council. All of the councils host events that support their respective philanthropy or service causes.
The Collegiate Panhellenic Council has four pillars: scholarship, leadership, community, and service. The different sororities in this organization include Alpha Omicron Pi, Alpha Xi Delta and Delta Phi Epsilon.
The Interfraternity Council has been around for more than 150 years. Scholarship, leadership, community and brotherhood are important values in this organization. The fraternities include Delta Chi, Delta Sigma Phi and Delta Tau Delta. Kennesaw’s first Interfraternity Council fraternity was founded in late 1972.
The Multicultural Greek Council includes Lambda Theta Phi, Lambda Theta Alpha and Phi Iota Alpha. The organization came to KSU in 2008 and continues to grow. The organization is known for its inclusive and diverse background, as it welcomes all cultures, races and religions.
