A Kennesaw State student was killed when a car crashed through the window of the Buffalo Wild Wings on Barrett Parkway around 4:30 p.m.

The victim has been identified as William Barton, a 19-year-old from McDonough. He was eating dinner when the car crashed through the window and trapped him underneath.

“The first thing I saw was the guy lodged under the van, so we tried to help him as much as we could. I was trying to talk to him and tell him he doesn’t need to worry, and we’ll fix him, and we’ll figure everything out, but he was freaking out and then pretty much unresponsive,” said witness Keegan Elsner to WSB-TV.

The accident occurred when 67-year-old Carol Shipley accidentally drove her van through the front of the restaurant while attempting to park. Witnesses mentioned that Shipley appeared disoriented and confused while attempting to help. She is said to be uninjured.

Another victim, 22-year-old Lindsey Terronez, is being treated at Kennestone hospital for minor injuries.

The Sentinel will do a followup on this story in Tuesday’s issue.

  1. 67 isn’t old and is certainly not an age that would inhibit driving. My guess is that she was on her phone and completely distracted. Being stupid enough to have your hand on a phone while driving is something idiots of all ages do.

  2. She also could’ve been having a medical emergency. Being in the fire service, I see that sort of thing a lot. Strokes, seizures, and heart attacks happen at the most unopportuned time.

  3. So where is the update on this story? Did they test the stupid woman for alcohol. Firefighter, it is possible that she had a seizure, but there was no mention of her being taken to a hospital for such a condition. Why does it take so long to find out the results of her condition? Someone at the Sentinel needs to follow up on this . There needs to be justice for the kid.
Older people need to realize as they age, they should cut out any multitasking as their physical condition is not that good anymore. 67 is not that old, but if she was behaving like the typical suburban housewife in a giant SUV, she is probably on her phone, grabbing something out of her seat and just not paying attention and then panicked as she made one bad move like accidentally hitting the pedal.
