Club Hockey tops Florida State

Kennesaw State’s club ice hockey team continued its recent strong play as they defeated Florida State 9-3 on Friday night, to extend their winning streak to five games.

The Owls (11-3-1) started fast yet again, scoring four goals in the first period, starting with a goal by Jarod Dible under three minutes after puck drop.

“We were doing a good job pressuring them,” head coach Sean Bernhardt said. “We were putting pucks to the net.”

KSU allowed a goal to Florida State late in the first period to bring the score to 3-1, but KSU would score five unanswered goals. Devan Bousquet and Paul Arnout Kalmeijer netted a couple goals each before Larry Adegoke completed his hat trick, scoring the eighth KSU goal of the night.

“He’s (Larry) been one of our top contributors all year, so it’s pretty much expected at this point,” Bernhardt said. “We got off to a good start, got to our forecheck early. We’re starting to come along. We have got to get pucks deep, bang bodies, and be physical.”

The Owls will attempt to continue their winning streak, as they play Florida State again tonight in Columbus.
