Streaking Owls Drop One to Mercer

KSU’s men’s tennis team hit a program best 10 wins over the weekend but lost, 6-1, to rival Mercer to drop to 10-9 (1-4 A-Sun) on the season. The one point dropped by the Bears came on a come-back victory from Junior Golkalp Ozdemir at the No.5 spot. Ozdemir lost his first set 7-5 but responded by winning 6-1, 1-0 (7).

The Owls had been on a three-match winning streak that started with their first conference win of the season, a 4-3 thriller over Lipscomb. The Owls followed their win over Lipscomb with a 5-2 win over Young Harris College and then another thrilling 4-3 victory, this time over Jacksonville State. It was the first time the Owls were able to beat Jacksonville State in three attempts.

The Owls return to the road next and hope to pick up their second conference win of the season and extend the program’s season wins record with a victory over USC Upstate on April 6th .
