SCAI makes Changes to Code of Conduct

Director of the Department of Student Conduct and Academic Integrity Diane Walker appeared at SGA’s March 29 general session to inform them of a change to the Student Code of Conduct.

Walker said that many students are using synthetic marijuana on campus because they are unaware that it is prohibited. “It IS illegal,” said Walker.

The new Student Code of Conduct clearly states that “The sale, use and/or possession of drugs (controlled substances) are/is prohibited. In addition, smoking, ingesting, or otherwise using a substance already prohibited by the preceding sentence in a manner not consistent with the manufacturer’s recommended use is prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to, all forms of synthetic marijuana, regardless of brand name.”

The changes will be posted to all websites and handbooks containing the Student Code of Conduct for Fall 2012 semester.

Also in this meeting, Director Roberta Wheeler announced that the annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on April 7 at the Legacy Gazebo, and that any student who wishes to help hide eggs should arrive there at 8:30 a.m.
