Divine Nine – Set it Off Event: We Are Here!

Members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. throw up fraternity hand signs during the annual Divine Nine "Set It Off" event on Sept. 30, 2026.

Kennesaw State University’s Divine Nine organizations gathered Wednesday Sept. 30, for a tabling event between the Convocation Center and Recreation Center. This gathering provides an opportunity for students to learn about Divine Nine sorority and fraternity life on campus.

The event focused on building community, educating students about National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations and answering questions from students interested in learning more.

The event hosts members of the NPHC, or commonly known as the Divine Nine, together to introduce students to their organization and what they offer.

“This is how they get to know us and we get to know them, so it’s a big community event and that’s what were all about”, says Kennedy Campbell. A senior, Campbell is a fall 2025 Initiate of the Phi Fi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.

Campbell, who has been part of this organization for nearly a year, said connecting with students is an important part of the organization’s presence at Kennesaw State.

Micah Bryant is a fourth-year student at Kennesaw State University and has been a part of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc. for a year. For Bryant, educating students about the Divine Nine also means educating them about the organization’s histories.

The Divine Nine was originally the Elite Eight, it only became the Divine Nine after the ninth organization, Iota Phi Theta joined the NPHC, this fraternity was founded in 1963.

“So, for us to push information from that time era is very beneficial just to have people aware of all the civil rights movements that happened then, and now…and how we should work together to get that voice out there,” Bryant said.

Kaleb Harden, a Senior and fall 2025 initiate of the Alpha Beta Theta Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., said the gathering helps introduce students to NPHC culture and the organizations represented on campus.

“This Plaza is very instrumental in getting people to understand NPHC culture and Divine Nine culture,” said Harden.

“Getting us the exposure that we need on campus. It’s very important to my fraternity that more people are aware just that we are here as well as all of the other sororities and fraternities in the Divine Nine.”

The tabling event allows members to interact with the student body, highlight each organization’s core beliefs, and why joining would elevate not only their college experience, but developing a community that will support them throughout their careers and personal lives. At the end of the event, all organizations shared ways for interested students for further connect.
