Softball concluded its campaign by taking one of three games last weekend against New Mexico State at Bailey Park

Friday’s game began with the Owls scoring first in the first inning on an RBI single by Macie Howes.

The Aggies answered in the top of the third on a solo home run by Desirae Spearman, tying the game at one a piece after three innings.

NMSU took their first lead of the game in the fourth inning on a two run home run by Kayla Lunar, making the score 3-1 in favor of the Aggies.

The Aggies extended their lead in the fifth on a solo home run by Lauren Garcia, making the score 4-1 after five innings.

NMSU scored twice more in the sixth on a pair of sacrifice fly RBIs, extending their lead to 6-1.

The Owls answered in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice fly, making the score 6-2 Aggies, but scoring stalled, and NMSU took home the 6-2 win.

Saturday’s contest began with Kennesaw State hoping for better luck on offense.

The Owls got the scoring started in the second inning after a wild pitch followed by a throwing error allowed Lexie Shaver to score all the way from first base to give the Owls a 1-0 lead.

The game after the second was a pitchers duel, with only one hit being seen between both teams from the third to the fifth inning.

In the sixth, however, the Owls further extended their lead on a three run home run by Shaver, making the game 4-0 in favor of KSU.

The Aggies failed to respond in the seventh, going down in order, and the Owls won 4-0. Owls pitcher Emma Friedel pitched a complete game shutout with six strikeouts.

The game was the Owls second shutout in as many weeks, both with a score of 4-0.

KSU’s bats got going early on Sunday, scoring on an RBI single by Ava Guzowski in the first inning. They extended their lead on a double by Shaver, giving the Owls a 2-0 lead after the first.

NMSU answered in the top of the second on a solo home run by Kristiana Watson, shrinking the KSU lead to 2-1 after two innings.

The Aggies scored again in the fourth on another solo shot by Watson, tying the game at 2-2.

NMSU took their first lead of the game in the fifth on a two run home run by Riley Carley, giving the Aggies a 4-2 lead. The Owls couldn’t answer in the bottom half of the inning.

In the sixth, KSU tied the game at four on a two run home run by Shaver, and the score remained tied at the end of the inning.

Neither team could break the tie in the seventh, sending the game to extra innings.

The game remained tied at 4-4, until the 13th when NMSU hit an RBI double to take a 5-4 lead.

The Owls failed to respond, and the game ended at a 5-4 final score, securing a victory for the Aggies and a series loss for KSU.
