Invincible Season 3 Review

One of the most popular animated shows right now, Invincible, is back with its third season and filled with more villains, new characters, and bigger problems.

The third season of the show dropped on Feb. 6, 2025 starting off with three episodes followed by one episode every Thursday until Thursday until March 13, 2025.

The season is an absolute blast to watch. It’s filled with everything a viewer could ever hope in a show. Action, romance, character arcs, blood. It has it all. It wastes no time throwing viewers into the action and cranking up the stakes in the show. We follow Mark Grayson and learn that he has been getting stronger and faster under the training Cecil has been putting him through. After the events in season two, it’s critical that Mark be in best shape when another Viltrumite decides to pop up on Earth.

But things seem to heat up when Mark becomes upset with Cecil for allowing Darkwing, someone Mark thought he had put in jail, to join the Guardians of the Globe.

The argument between Cecil and Mark quickly escalates and leads to Cecil activating a device planted in his head that causes a loud noise that forces Mark to succumb to immense pain.

The betrayal and lack of trust leads Mark to carry the argument to the headquarters of the Guardians of the Globe and a fight breaks out. A mess of Cecil’s robot bodies and blood was result after the fight was done. This entire situation is what sparked an argument against fans on who was in the right and who was in the wrong. Others could see both sides of the story, but ultimately the damage was done. The Guardians were split, and Mark was on his own when it comes to superhero stuff.

Oliver, Mark’s younger brother, is a little older and eager to help Mark fight villains. However, there has been situations where Oliver come off as a mini-Omni-Man. He had his costume to be made similar to Omni-Man’s suit and even called himself Omni-Boy. What really sealed the deal was Oliver killing off the Mauler Twins in cold blood.

It leads into the moral question of “is killing necessary” for this season and learning how the consequence of inactivity affects others. It’s a very interesting concept that is touched upon throughout the show and clearly weighs very heavily on Mark.

Powerplex and Angstorm Levy are some of these consequences. People are still being affected from the tragedy that followed Mark’s fight with Omni-Man. Powerplex, or Scott Duvall, lost lost his sister and niece to the destruction from the fight in season one. Scott wants to avenge his family’s death and tries to do so by taking down Mark, but he ended up killing his wife and son in the process. Angstrom Levy was thought to have died in season two after Mark supposedly killed him, but he somehow managed to survive and sent 18 Marks from different universes to wreak havoc on the city.

By not killing the enemy and instead putting them in jail where they will someday break out again, people’s lives will always be at risk. Death and destruction will always follow, and the blood will be on Mark’s hands.

The biggest and probably the most talked about fight in season three is between Mark and Conquest. Conquest is a Viltrumite that was sent to take over Earth after Mark has failed to uphold his Viltrumite duty of conquering the planet. The fight was brutal. Mark frustratingly fights back but keep getting beat down by Conquest who is enjoying every bit of it. Conquest didn’t hold back with his powerful moves and left Mark badly injured with a broken leg, arm, and and a banged up face. But finally, after Conquest expresses his loneliness, Mark head butts him until his entire face is nothing but mush.

Overall, this season was a wild ride and now that it’s over, fans are eagerly anticipating season four of Invincible.
