MARIETTA, Ga– Club Ice Hockey swept Austin Peay in its second home series of the season on Nov. 1-2 at the Atlanta Ice House.
The Owls scored a season-high series total of 20 goals against the Governors, while holding them to just four goals.
With a 9-2 win in the opening game of the series and an 11-2 win in game 2, the Owls climb to a 4-0 record at home this season.
Game 1 of the series is the second time this season the Owls have ended a game with at least nine goals, following their 9-1 home opening win against Ole Miss on Oct. 18.
The Owls’ 11 goals in game 2 also set a season-high for a single game, marking their first time surpassing double-digit goals.
The series reached a boiling point in the final two minutes of game 2, when a pair of fights ended with four players on each team being ejected from the game.
The Owls leading scorers for the series were center Hudson Orgeron and forward Sebastian Zamborsky.
Orgeron scored a goal in the second period of the first game, and a goal in periods two and three of game 2 for a hat trick of goals across the series.
Zamborsky scored a goal in the second period of game one, along with two goals in the third period of game 2 to also reach a hat trick of goals for the series.
Four other owls scored multiple goals in this series, including center James Kravis, forward Jayden Price, winger Ashton Nulty, and forward John Ronson, who all scored two goals.
Six other owls scored a goal in this series, including defensemen Essix Moser, winger Aaron Montgomery, forward Jack Lakly, center Daniel Cotnoir, center Owen Foster, and forward Chris Scott.
Owls goalie Alex Wehbe notched 15 saves for the Owls in game 1 of the series, while goalie Connor Lakly had 16 saves in game 2.
For the series, Owls players spent less time in the penalty box with a total of sixteen penalty minutes, while Governors players spent twenty-six minutes in the box.
Of the twenty goals scored in the series, nineteen of them came as a result of assists, showcasing the Owls’ tendency to move the puck around.
The series ended on a high note for the Owls, with eight of their 11 goals in the second game of the series coming in the third period, doubling the Governors’ goal total for the series in the period alone.
The Owls now find themselves with a 5-3 record on the season, including a 4-0 record in home games.
The Owls’ next series will be on the road against Alabama-Birmingham on Nov. 15 and Nov. 16, as they look for their first win on the road since their season opening win against Georgia Tech on Oct. 4.
