KSU Undergoes Renovations Over Break

The Kennesaw Campus underwent several renovations in preparation for the Fall 2024 school term.

The Commons dining hall was one of several areas on Kennesaw Campus that was renovated during the summer, resulting in its closure for several months.

The aim of these improvements was to modernize the design of the dining facilities.

On Aug. 12, students could finally see its new overall layout, color scheme and menu for the Fall 2024 school term.

Giving the area a new and improved look attracts more students and increases the popularity of the building.

Sha’Lani Selah, a sophomore transfer student from Boston University, says this is her first year at KSU, but she enjoys the vibrance and food from this dining hall more than her last school.

“It’s better than the dining hall back at Boston [University], it looks newer, and there’s better food options, in my opinion,” she said.

Another key focus of summer renovation on Kennesaw Campus was the Carmichael Student Center.

The building emerged with two new additions, including a Starbucks Coffee, joining as another location alongside the one in the Social Sciences Building, and Nobi-Cha Bubble Tea, which sells a variety of milk teas, sodas and frappes.

Lance Williams, a sophomore student at KSU, appreciates the new Starbucks close proximity to all of the other on-campus restaurants.

“I didn’t like walking that far to get coffee in the morning, but now I eat here everyday,” he said.

Bike lanes for students have been added, which benefits riders and walkers. The lanes prevent bikers from potentially running into students by separating the two.

Junior accounting student Santana Johnson found that this new addition made the commute from Big Shanty Road to the Burruss Building easier.

“I bike to class from my apartment off-campus, and the new lanes made it faster when I’m actually at the school,” Johnson said.

Kennesaw State has planned larger construction and renovations for the future, including new buildings across both campuses and renovations to Stillwell Stadium.
