Students have access to multiple Halloween season activities in Kennesaw

Paranoia Haunted House is one of the many great attractions near Kennesaw State that students can partake in this Halloween season.

Kennesaw has plenty of Halloween themed activities in and around town this month. Here are some of the most popular Halloween attractions.

Netherworld

A highly favored haunted house is Netherworld with costumes and jump scares. This interactive experience is a walking tour of countless horror sets, each room a different theme and no one room the same year-to-year. The themes range from aquatic to extraterrestrial and a thrilling experience is guaranteed before the line even begins. They include monster actors who jump, scream, stare and threaten prop weapons at any given turn. Netherworld is open from 7 p.m. to midnight every Friday and Saturday until Nov. 13 and until 11 p.m. on Halloween night.

King’s Crossing Recreation Association’s Screen on the Green

King’s Crossing Recreation Association is holding a screening of Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. Concessions will be available and costumes are encouraged. This is a bring-your-own-blanket event and admission is $5. The classic Halloween movie will be shown on their tennis courts and concessions will include drinks, popcorn and candy.

Halloween Hikes

The Chattahoochee Nature Center is hosting its annual Halloween Hikes on Oct. 22 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. A guide will take attendees through the forest and along the way will stop for performances from costumed guides about how different woodland creatures who live in the forest survive in the fall season. Each of the performances feature a different animal and employees dressed up as animals to truly capture an immersive experience. Hikes last approximately 45 minutes, and all ticket sales support the nature center and the critters that live within it.

Paranoia Haunted House

For fans of fright, Paranoia Haunted House is the perfect Halloween night out. This experience of walking through a horror movie is unmatched. Actors in full makeup and masks are prepared to scare anyone on the premises. There are two houses in one attraction at Paranoia — the Void and Suffering — making it an even better deal for thrill seekers this season. It is open from 8:30 p.m. until midnight every Friday and Saturday this month and until 10:30 p.m. every Thursday and Sunday.

Scarecrows on Main

All October long on Kennesaw’s Main Street scarecrows will be on display, with opportunities for viewers to vote on their favorite for the chance to win a $100 prize. Those putting up scarecrows may be non-profit corporations, schools, local families or sports teams making for a friendly competition among good causes. Fall cheer in the way of scarecrows will be spread outside many storefronts on Main Street, and a walk down the street makes for a pleasant and free fall activity.
