Besides the awkward family reunions and the crazy weather that Georgia has to offer, timeless holiday movies are always something to look forward to during the break.

“It is so hard to choose just one favorite holiday movie because I like all the Hallmark Christmas movies — even the ones with a cheesy love story. My favorite holiday movie of all time would have to be ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas.’ I’ve literally watched this movie my whole life, and I broke my family’s first VCR with it because I played the tape too many times. It’s one of those movies that I like to play in the background because I know all the songs to it. I like to sing along with the Christmas and Halloween songs in the movie.”

“Hands down, ‘The Grinch’ is my favorite holiday movie because it’s relatable. I can relate to the movie because as I’ve gotten older I’ve lost my Christmas spirit. At the beginning of the movie, he’s this grumpy Grinch. Then at the end, everyone gets together with him. It reminds us that it’s Christmas, and we’re all people, so we should come together during this time of the year. ‘The Grinch,’ along with other holiday movies, is supposed to make someone feel thankful for the things they have.”

“Holiday movies are great for nostalgic purposes. They remind me of positive memories from my childhood. I watch every movie that is included in the ’25 Days of Christmas’ special they have on TV. I like the stop motion movies like ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,’ but my all-time favorite movie is ‘A Charlie Brown Christmas.’ My son is 2 years old now, and this is the first time that he’s into movies and characters. I’m trying to get him as excited about holiday movies as I am, and this gives me an excuse to re-watch all the holiday movies.”

“My family has this tradition of sitting down together and watching holiday movies. My favorite holiday movie would have to be ‘Home Alone.’ Since this is my dad’s favorite movie, we watched it so many times that I’ve learned to love it and hate it at the same time. I work at a movie theater, and I know that Christmas is one of the busiest days of the year. I think it is because people want to do something together as a family, but everything else is closed besides the movie theater.”

“Holiday movies are great for many reasons like nostalgic purposes, the animation and it brings families together. My family has a rule, which is we don’t watch or listen to anything Christmas-related until after Thanksgiving. As soon as Thanksgiving is over, I start watching my favorite holiday movie which is ‘A Christmas Story.’ It is a classic movie that I can watch all day long on Christmas.”
