On Feb. 11 at 11:40 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the Public Safety Lobby in reference to an accident. The complainant told the officer that the previous day, Feb. 10, he was walking at Marietta Drive and North Service Street when he was hit by a gold colored, four door Sedan. He did not get the tag number and only noticed that the driver was a white female. The officer was notified by dispatch that the complainant had met with officers on Feb. 10, but he had been too intoxicated to make an accident report. The complainant also refused medical treatment.
Love Conquers All…Except the Law
An officer met with an RA from the University Village dorms in reference to suspected marijuana on Feb. 8 at 4:08 p.m. The RA had been conducting health and safety inspections when she smelled what she believed to be marijuana in one of the rooms. The officer knocked on the door of the suspected apartment. When the resident opened the door, the officer could smell fresh marijuana. The resident admitted she had a small amount of marijuana that she was holding for her boyfriend. She produced a prescription pill bottle that contained a small plastic baggie that held marijuana inside. Her boyfriend’s name was on the bottle. The resident stated that her boyfriend was in school in Alabama. The resident was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Can’t Run From the Law
An officer conducted a traffic stop on a car driving recklessly and too fast for conditions on Feb. 5 at 11:38 p.m. The officer could smell alcohol on the driver’s breath as he answered the officer’s questions. He told the officer he had had several beers and several mixed drinks earlier that night. The driver blew into the Alco-Sensor, which tested positive for alcohol. The driver then agreed to participate in the field evaluations, which he failed. The officer attempted to arrest the driver, but he resisted, walking toward his car. Another officer who had arrived as back-up had to help the other officer physically restrain the driver in order to place handcuffs on him.
