Only in its seventh year, Folklore is relatively young in the realm of haunted houses, and this is its first year in Acworth since its relocation. There were no long lines to wait in, and the parking lot was filled with wandering actors and heavy-metal music, giving people a reason to hang out before and after the haunted house.
They now have two haunts: “The Manor” is considered more traditional, relying almost exclusively on relentless jump-scares as you twist through the Victorian-era corridors. The second is “Adrenaline” and takes a more psychological approach. The actors here feel more interactive, and there is definitely a pressure to walk faster and faster through the hallways as you continue. By the time I saw the exit sign, I was practically running, and my heart was pounding from the excitement.
My only regret is how short the haunts were. Though I was certainly scared, I was in and out of both haunts in less than 15 minutes. This was disappointing, since I felt the adrenaline rush and wanted it to continue for longer.
Overall, it is a fun experience that is very close to campus and worth checking out for Halloween this year.
