Track and field earned five Conference USA weekly honors this past week, spotlighting the program’s depth as their season continues to build momentum.
Senior Eric Young II headlined the group after being named CUSA Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Young II finished fifth in the 200 meters with a time of 21.06 seconds, marking the second fastest in program history and just 0.01 seconds shy of the program record.
Young II’s performance ranked 21st nationally and second in CUSA, fending off a loaded field including athletes from Clemson, Alabama and Georgia Tech. Young II also contributed to the Kennesaw State’s 4×400-meter relay, setting a school record and finishing ahead of the same trio of Power Four programs.
Gage Voyles followed with CUSA Men’s Freshman of the Week honors after winning the high jump. Voyles cleared a personal-best of 2.12 meters (6’11.5), narrowly beating out teammate Kenyatta Bennett on attempts. This mark is the #1 in CUSA and #36 nationally, with Voyles recording places above athletes from Clemson and Tennessee.
Junior Emma Ferguson was named CUSA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after placing fourth in the mile-run with a time of 4:45.61, ranking No. 1 in the conference with the performance and 10th in Kennesaw State history.
Senior Victoria Joyce earned CUSA Women’s Field Athlete of the Week honors by breaking the school record in the triple jump. Joyce recorded a leap of 12.66 meters (41’6″), surpassing the previous mark by six inches and ranking #1 in CUSA this season.
Natalie Harris rounded out the honors, collecting CUSA Women’s Freshman of the Week recognition. Harris posted the top preliminary time in the conference this season in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 8.48 seconds before finishing 16th overall in a competitive field.
