Soccer’s contest against Georgia Southern on Wednesday at Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium ended in a 0-0 draw, the Owls’ second straight.
Georgia Southern began the match dominating possession, racking up four shots in the first five minutes, including two shots on goal.
The remainder of the first half was very defensive, with only four more shots combined taken after the opening moments.
Owls goalkeeper Sara Hill continued her recent impressive performance, grabbing three saves in the opening half. Hill already has 23 saves in her freshman season.
The Owls also picked up a yellow card in the first half issued to midfielderAnabel Orozco, her third of the year.
The second half of the match picked up right where the first left off. The teams battled for possession without many good shot opportunities.
The Eagles got their first major opportunity for scoring in the 70th minute from Caitlin Conroy, who forced Hill to make a diving save.
The match ended without any additional scoring opportunities, concluding in a 0-0 draw.
A major factor in keeping the match scoreless was the defensive effort by Kennesaw State. Despite Georgia Southern nearly tripling the Owls in shots, 16 to 6, the Eagles were unable to convert any of those shots into goals.
The Owls are still winless nearing the halfway mark of the season. They will hope to get in the win column on Sunday at 1 p.m. when they face Bellarmine.
