Soccer is left still searching for its first win after a 0-0 draw against Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon.

Following a tight 3-2 loss against Mercer on Thursday, the Owls returned to Walens Family Field at Fifth Third Stadium to face Tennessee Tech, still searching for their first victory of the year.

Sunday’s match kicked off a three-match homestand to finish up KSU’s non-conference action for the season.

The match started with little offense, seeing only two shots being taken between the teams in the first 15 minutes.

The first scoring opportunity came in the 17th minute for the Golden Eagles on a shot by Lucia Cuadra, saved by KSU goalkeeper Sara Hill.

The Owls had an opportunity of their own in the 31st minute, with a shot by Rebecca Womer that wassaved by a diving Maggie Conrad.

The teams went to the locker room at a 0-0 draw, with only eight combined shots and four shots on goal.

The second half picked up right where the first left off, as both teams battled for possession and struggled to get shots off in the first 20 minutes.

In the 26th and 27th minutes, TTU had two golden opportunities to get on the board, including a shot that hit the post and nearly ricocheted in, which had to be reviewed to ensure it wasn’t a TTU goal.

Neither team could score until the clock ran out, and the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

It must be stated that a major factor in the draw was the defense of KSU. The Owls allowed seven shots on goal, but TTU were unable to convert.

Hill also grabbed a career-high seven saves for the Owls.

KSU continues its homestand on Wednesday night at 7 p.m., when they take on Georgia Southern.
