Joe Goldberg’s tragic ending in You’s season finale.
“Hello, You.” Does that sound familiar? The famous thriller drama series, starring Penn Badgley, has had an amazing run for four seasons. The anticipated fifth and final season is set to premiere on April 24, and fans cannot stop talking about it.
In season one, Joe Goldberg a bookstore manager in New York City, became overly obsessed with a customer named Guinevere Beck. Joe used social media to monitor her every movement, and eventually, he killed her.
Season two began with Joe having an argument with his ex-girlfriend, Candace, about a possible affair she might have had. After hitting her head during the argument, Joe suspects that Candace is dead, so he buries her, alive. Her revenge to find Joe causes him to flee to LA. There, he finds Love Quinn, his new love interest. Candace finds her way to LA to warn Love. However, blinded by her own judgment, Love failed to see that Candace was right. Love Quinn kills Candace for Joe. This is where the story turns, leaving fans wondering if Joe had suddenly met his match.
Joe found himself somewhat uneasy, knowing that Love was capable of murder. In season three, as Love was pregnant with their son, Joe began to set eyes on his new neighbor, Natalie. As usual, Love’s lovefor Joe was strong, leaving her to once again, kill Natalie for Joe. Joe went on to befriend a librarian named Marienne, who became his new love interest in season 4.
At the end of season 3, Love decided to kill Joe. A gun goes off and for a second, fans suspect that Joe died at Love’s feet. That would have taken a turn in this drama series because certainly, no one can kill Joe Goldberg. To our surprise, he survived, managing to kill Love Quinn at the very last second. He framed her death as a murder-suicide and followed Marienne to Paris.
In the latest season, Joe found himself on the other side of the gun, vulnerable to London’s “eat the rich” killer. He, among others, was being stalked and killed. It should be no surprise that Joe managed to escape, still adding to his list of murder victims.
So, how will Joe’s story end? In season three, Joe and Love give birth to their son, Henry. After Love’s murder, Joe left the child with two of his friends. In season five, I think we will get to see Henry as a toddler, encountering Joe unexpectedly. Joe will do everything possible to keep a distance from Henry because he cannot be a murderer and a dad. Joe will remain successful in killing his victims until he gets caught by the police. With his secrets made to the public, Joe will find it extremely difficult to make a comeback. He will assume that trying isn’t worth it, and as a way of apologizing to his victims, Joe Goldberg will kill himself by saying, “Goodbye, You.”
