Kamala Harris and Former President Obama team up in Atlanta, Georgia

ATLANTA, GA— On Oct. 24, a rally supporting Kamala Harris and Tim Walz took place in Atlanta, Georgia, featuring notable speakers such as Bruce Springsteen, Tyler Perry and former President Barack Obama.

The event’s aim was to mobilize supporters ahead of the upcoming elections and emphasize the campaigns’ key themes, particularly in the opposition to former President Donald Trump and his running mate J.D. Vance. This was one a few times former President Barack Obama campaigned with Vice President Kamala Harris, marking a significant shift in the democratic party’s consensus of unity amongst supporters.

Bruce Springsteen opened the rally with a passionate address. He openly endorsed the two Canidates, saying “I am here to support Kamala Harris and Tim Walz for President and Vice President of the United States! And to oppose Donald Trump and J.D. Vance!”

Springsteen began to continue on his beliefs on why he decided to endorse Harris.

“I want a president who will revere the constitution and not threaten our great democracy, who believes in the rule of law and the peaceful transfer of power,” Springsteen said.

Tyler Perry also took the stage, sharing his personal story and his belief of the American Dream.

“We want a president who believes the American dream is for everyone,” Perry said. “That President is Kamala Harris.”

He emphasized hard work and resilience, stating, “When I came here, I didn’t have anything but a dream. I worked my way to where I am now. It was here in Georgia; you know what Georgians do? We don’t complain, we go to work.”

Former President Obama addressed the crowd with a critical perspective on Trump’s leadership. He questioned the rationale behind supporting Trump, saying, “What I cannot understand is why anyone would think Donald Trump will shake things up in a way that is good for you.”

He further remarked on Trump’s focus on self-interest, suggesting that his priorities do not align with the needs of the public.

Kamala Harris spoke directly about economic issues facing Americans,

“Wages are up, prices are still too high… Unlike Donald Trump, who has $400 million served to him on a silver platter and still managed to file for bankruptcy six times… My common sense plan will lower the prices you pay on everything from prescription drugs to housing,” Harris said, emphasizing her commitment to supporting middle-class families and lowering costs.

Harris’s speech also included a strong focus on women’s rights of choice in medical access stating, “This is a fight for the future, and it is a fight for freedom.”

Throughout the speech, she highlighted concerns regarding reproductive rights and the implications of legislative changes, reinforcing the campaigns commitment to protecting these rights.

The event concluded with a call to action to vote early, encouraging attendees to support Harris and Walz in the upcoming election, and emphasizing unity and the importance of civic engagement.
