On the Kennesaw Campus, Nobi-Cha opened up on Aug. 12 on the first floor of the Carmichael Student Center, featuring bubble teas, fruit sodas and coffees.

Our Review

For two drinks, it took almost 30 minutes to order and cost $14.11. When ordering drinks, they are very thorough in asking for modifications, yet almost every customization is an extra charge.

The atmosphere of the tiny shop was enjoyable and friendly with a small statue of their mascot in the corner to take photos with; however, the wait for a drink was long and overpriced for the quality.

“It’s exactly what you would expect from a Boba shop on a college campus,” Student Media Photo Editor, Daylan Johnson said.

Overall, the cost, wait time and quality give the shop a rating of 7/10.

Brown Sugar Milk Tea

This drink is described as, “Authentic Taiwan Milk Tea sweetened to your liking with Brown Sugar Sauce drizzle. Pair this drink with caramelized Brown Sugar Pearls.

The base was too sweet with the additional scoop of brown sugar pearls and sauce drizzle.

Additionally, the pearls were too chewy and did not additional flavor to the drink.

The sweetness became too overpowering to enjoy and the pearls left our staff disappointed, therefore the drink is a 5/10.

Green Tea

This drink is described as, “Authentic Thai Green Tea, full of refreshing flavor. Sweetened to your liking. Pair this drink with Aloe Vera or Snow Pearls.

The regular drink with fruit jellies was underwhelming. The KSU location did not have aloe vera popping bubbles or snow pearls available.

The drink’s color was off-putting but the taste was pleasantly surprising. The base tasted like black tea with matcha powder and the fruit jellies tasted like lychee.

Although the drink was not aesthetically pleasing, the taste brought this drink’s rating to an 8/10.

Ratings on Campus

Students on campus have had drastically different experiences from Nobi-Cha.

“They forgot my bubbles in my drink, but the last one I had was an 8/10,” student Jashaiya Bradley said.

Bradley said she wanted to give Nobi-Cha a good review earlier in the week, but after not getting her bubbles in her tea, it changed her mind.

Students recognize the long wait time like the other locations in the Student Center.

“The first few days was packed but now it’s a little calmer so it’s an 8/10,” student Konata Richardson said.

Overall, students on campus like the new bubble tea shop, but are encountering order errors and lengthy times when trying to get to class.
