Starting in February, Kennesaw football will be holding open tryouts for current KSU students to bring in new additions to the team for the 2023 spring semester.
Featured workouts for the tryouts will include the 40-yard dash, pro shuttle, and position drills.
In order to participate and be eligible for tryouts, students must complete the mandatory paperwork and submit the documents to the KSU football office by 5:00 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 27.
This is not the only eligibility requirement, however. Current KSU students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours of courses as well as be available from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Participation in the open tryouts is dependent on the individual meeting the NCAA and University eligibility requirements. Player information will also be reviewed.
This open tryout information comes after the Owls recruited 19 early signees to headline the 2023 class over winter break.
This ’23 class is just the 10th recruiting class in KSU history and the school’s second-largest during the early signing period.
Much like previous classes before, eight of the 19 upcoming classes of recruited athletes stem from Georgia. Five signees flock from Alabama, three from Florida, and one each from Tennessee, South Carolina and Indiana.
New additions to the Owls’ squad include 10 offensive players, eight defensive players and one specialist.
KSU will continue recruiting the rest of the 2023 class on National Signing Day on Feb. 1, 2023.
Amongst the five offensive linemen enter Gatlin Hancock, Al Hogan, Kaleb May, Ethan Newman and Corr’yon Watson.
KSU meets three new quarterback signees Cole McCarty, Tyler Nelson and Markell Redding.
Lastly, for the offensive side, the Owls joined forces with two wide receivers, David Cole and Andre Craig.
To uphold KSU’s powerhouse defense, the Owls welcomed eight new defensive players.
CJ Donaldson, Jaylan Jarrett, Jordan Miles, A.J. Miller, Jamar Rucks and Pooda Walker take on the baton of KSU’s newest defensive linemen.
Amir Scarver, Linemen, and Tarez Hamilton, Defensive Back, have also inked early with the Owls.
Jacob Ulrich rounds up the new punter signees for KSU.
When asked about the newest class, Head Coach Brian Bohannon said, “I thought we did really good in this initial signing period. We helped ourselves with some size and added great players on both sides of the ball. I am excited about what we accomplished with our early signees.”
