An accident involving a motorist resulted in a fatality earlier today on the intersection of Frey and Campus Loop Road, according to Cobb County police officials.
According to The Cobb Courier, the victim was a 24-year-old man from Wisconsin. A 19-year-old from Dunwoody had turned left onto Campus Loop Road and into the motorist’s path. The motorist swerved to avoid her, lost control of his motorcycle and hit the curb. He collided with the bus stop and police officials stated he was dead on site, also according to The Courier.
The driver of the Hyundai has been reported as uninjured by The Courier.
No names have been released due to The Courier’s publication policy on naming individuals involved and because “no determination of fault has been made.”
According to the Cobb County Department of Transportation Twitter, southbound traffic on Frey Road was blocked from 1:30 to 3:15 p.m. due to the accident. The scene of the accident is less than three minutes from the center of the Kennesaw campus.
Aerial footage provided by 11Alive news shows several police vehicles across Frey Road at the time. A tow truck is also seen with a damaged motorcycle in the truck bed. The vehicle has been identified as a 2016 Yamaha FZ07 motorcycle by the Cobb Courier.
KSU’s Parking and Transportation Facebook account issued a warning about the accident and that Big Owl Buses that take this road will be rerouted until the scene was cleared.
