Cobb County Police responded to a shooting Sunday, Oct. 6, at the Stadium Village apartment that left one victim dead and an additional two wounded.
At approximately 11:40 a.m. Cobb County officers from Precinct One were dispatched to 3044 Hidden Forest Court in reference to a person shot.
“Upon arrival, officers located a male, lying on the ground near the 4000 building, with a gunshot wound to the back,” a Cobb County press release stated. “The male was deceased.”
Police identified the deceased victim as 18-year-old Oluwafemi Oyerinde of Lawrenceville, Georgia.
The two other wounded victims were identified as 18-year-old Khalil Bennett and 18-year-old Jarius Bonner. Both males were found with gunshot wounds and were taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw for treatment of their injuries, the release stated.
Police determined this event was a result of a dispute between neighbors prior to the shooting.
The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the CCPD Crimes Against Persons Unit at 770-499-3945.
“[The KSU Police Department] has no indication of an imminent threat to the Kennesaw State Campus,” KSUPD said. “Details are limited at this time but we will update as information becomes available.”
An alert was not sent out to KSU students as the apartment complexes are not part of the university.
The Stadium Village apartments are located off Hidden Forest Court in Kennesaw, Georgia, near Fifth Third Bank Stadium.
The complex is off-campus, luxury housing for Kennesaw State students, according to the Stadium Village website.
