The Football Association of Thailand announced on Tuesday that Kennesaw State goalkeeper Tiffany Sornpao made the final 23-person roster that will be competing at the Women’s World Cup in France this summer.
Sornpao is coming off her sophomore season, where she statistically ranked among the best in the Atlantic Sun Conference while also having nine clean sheets and setting a KSU record with 94 saves.
Earning her first international appearance for Thailand in March, she played the full 90 minutes against Italy during a match in the Cyprus Cup.
“I’m just extremely proud of Tiffany,” KSU head coach Benji Walton said. “Since her freshman year we have seen her grow and develop as much as any player I’ve had the privilege to work with.”
That development Walton refers to started early in Sornpao’s career as she quickly established herself as the starting goalkeeper during her freshman year.
Sornpao debuted for KSU in the third match of the 2017 season and would go on to record four consecutive shutouts to begin her career. Since then, she has become a source of energy for a team that is a force in the ASUN.
With the national team call-up, Sornpao is now witnessing the reward for her efforts and is looking forward to the opportunity.
“Five months ago I was just hyped to be able to go to France and watch a WWC game, five months later I make the 23 roster to the be in the WWC,” Sornpao tweeted.
The former Duluth High School standout was a four time All-County selection and helped the Wildcats win multiple tournaments.
Sornpao will begin her World Cup experience on Tuesday, June 11, as Thailand takes on the United States in the city of Reims.
