Kennesaw State interim Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Linda Noble officially retired on Thursday, Nov. 1.
KSU President Dr. Pamela Whitten announced Noble’s retirement in an email early in October. The email was sent only to university deans and chairs.
“Dr. Noble had planned to leave KSU in July, but graciously agreed to stay an additional three months during my transition into serving as President,” Whitten said in the email. “I am deeply grateful for Linda’s service and commitment to KSU and wish her great happiness in this new chapter of her life.”
Noble was originally named as KSU’s interim provost in January 2018, coming out of retirement to fill in for then-provost Dr. Ken Harmon when he had to assume the role of interim president. Harmon took over as interim president after former KSU President Sam Olens announced his resignation in December 2017.
Noble’s last day as interim provost was Oct. 31, and Senior Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Ron Matson has since take stepped into the position. Matson will serve as interim provost until a new provost is chosen. A new provost is expected to be on campus by winter 2019.
“Dr. Noble came out of retirement to serve Kennesaw State because of her passion for this university and her belief in its mission,” Whitten said. “She has played a critical role in maintaining our commitment to our students, and she has been an incredible partner during my own transition into the role of president. Dr. Noble will forever be a KSU Owl. We thank her for all that she has done for KSU and wish her well during a much-deserved retirement.”
