Tommia Dean, a former Kennesaw State cheerleader who kneeled in protest during the national anthem at a game last year, will speak out about her experiences on “The View” in a live episode airing on Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 11 a.m.
“The View,” a popular talk show hosted by women, announced yesterday on Twitter that Dean would be their special guest on the show. She will be part of their hot topics table, where each host usually gives their own takes on the day’s news.
Reactions to the announcement made yesterday have been varied.
“It’s easy to take the path of least resistance, but it takes guts to stand alone and walk the path of real resistance!” one comment reads. “There’s some of us who would love to cheer for you!”
Another reads, “There won’t be a problem if she took a knee at any other song! So why this song? You have a right to protest, but it’s just disgraceful to protest to this song.”
Dean filed a complaint earlier this month on Sept. 5, accusing KSU and Georgia state officials of violating her civil rights last year after a dispute over her and four other cheerleaders’ decision to take a knee during the national anthem before a football game last year.
