Kennesaw State’s School of Art and Design has produced two graduates that have been selected for Graphic Design USA’s Students to Watch in 2018.
According to a KSU article, Audrey Arnold and Katie Vines were nominated by faculty members from the College of the Arts and made the cut to be among the top 75 students chosen from universities all across the nation. Arnold and Vines both graduated in 2017 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in graphic communications.
“They both deserved it,” said Craig Brasco, assistant professor of art and coordinator of graphic communication. “They both had some obstacles on the way, but they brushed themselves off and now they’ve achieved some great things.”
Arnold was a member of the Graphic Design Club in her time at KSU. Outside of KSU, she aided in making sets for a local theater group and has even flexed her acting ability in a few plays and productions.
Since graduating in 2017, she has accepted a position as a graphic designer for Mohawk Industries, a flooring manufacturer located in Calhoun, Georgia.
Katie Vines was also a member of the Graphic Design Club at KSU as well as the American Institute of Graphic Arts, a professional organization for design with members that practice all forms of communication design. While at KSU, she interned with Shaw Floors in Dalton, Georgia, and Heidelberg, USA, a major provider and partner for the global printing industry.
After graduation, Vines landed a position as a senior graphic designer at Shaw Floors where she is in charge of creating newsletters, catalogs, signs, car wraps and other graphics for their hard surfaces retail division.
GDUSA’s “Students to Watch” list identifies top graphic design students each year, undergraduate or graduate, who have “found personal and professional growth” in their field. Additionally, KSU made the 2018 list of top graphic design schools for the same publication.
