Kennesaw State recently began a national search for the Bagwell College of Education’s new dean.
According to Dr. Kathy Schwaig, dean of the Coles College of Business, the university is using the search firm Myers McRae to share information about the position with candidates across the U.S.
Myers McRae works with higher education institutions to conduct national and international searches. According to its website, the firm’s database reaches potential candidates in all 50 states.
“They have also advertised the position in a number of online and print outlets,” Schwaig said.
Faculty and staff from the Bagwell College of Education and education leaders from the community are working together to find candidates for the position. The dean is expected to provide strategic leadership for the college and oversee all aspects of the college’s operations.
The Office of the Provost is currently advertising the position on its website where it lists all of the responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position. Some of the responsibilities include achieving objectives of the Bagwell College of Education within the framework of the university’s strategic plan, building partnerships and leading successful academic planning and implementation for undergraduate, graduate and online courses and degree programs.
Applications for the position must include a letter of interest, a curriculum vitae and at least three references. The search will continue until the position is filled, but the university recommends submitting an application by Feb. 26 for best consideration.
Schwaig said the university hopes to have a new dean in place by July 1, 2018. More information on the responsibilities and qualifications can be found at http://myersmcrae.com/skins/userfiles/files/Kennesaw-Edu.pdf.
