Hundreds line up to stuff animals for Valentine’s Day

The Department of Student Activity’s annual “Stuff-A-Friend” event on Valentine’s Day attracted hundreds of students to build personalized stuffed animals.

At the two events — one held on each campus — students stuffed and accessorized a plush pet to either keep for themselves or give away to a loved one. Each student walked away with a bear, dog, giraffe or other animal friend. Between the two campuses, a total of 400 animals were stuffed.

On the Kennesaw campus, the animal-stuffers formed a line stretching from the University Rooms, up the stairs and almost out the door of the student center.

Tifaney Millwood, the coordinator of Student Activities and organizer of the event, said the purpose of “Stuff-A-Friend” was aimed at fostering a sense of community for Kennesaw State University students.

“It’s kind of like having our own version of Build-A-Bear, and who doesn’t love Build-A-Bear?” Millwood said. “Everyone likes to feel special. While everyone couldn’t stuff a bear, I figured we could at least make the days of 400 students, no matter if they decide to keep it or gift it to a friend or significant other.”

The “Stuff-A-Friend” event is a KSU tradition coordinated every year around Valentine’s Day. This is the first time the annual event was hosted by the Department of Student Activities after transitioning from the Kennesaw Activities Board. The department also hosts “Stuff-An-Owl” during the “Week of Welcome” every year.
