Day two of Owl-O-Ween on Saturday, Oct. 22 opened in the early afternoon with bands taking one of the stages.
The event is advertised as Atlanta’s biggest hot air balloon festival. Local radio stations, local TV stations and Kennesaw State itself have advertised the event for the past few months leading up to the weekend. Radio station Star 94.1 broadcasts live from Owl-O-Ween every year.
Live shows featuring acrobats and contortionists performed on different stages set up throughout the stadium. Performers jumped off of each other, swung flaming whips and lit their feet and head pieces on fire.
With local businesses in canopy tents lined up across the property, attendees spun wheels to win free swag, and kids trick-or-treated for candy. Numerous food trucks offered a wide variety of food, and some trucks, including one from a local brewery, served alcohol to adults.
“I’ve come the past three years with my parents,” said freshman fine arts major Bailey Volk. “My favorite part is definitely the food trucks.”
The event was kid-friendly and catered to all ages. Children played in bouncy houses at no extra cost and made craft projects under canopy tents.
Night Owl Productions, the event’s organizer, helped attendees with any questions they might have.
“It’s a good opportunity to get yourself out there and volunteer,” said freshman computer science major Kendrick Jackson, a Night Owl Productions employee. “I love the feeling of hands-on work, and I love helping people.”
With the help of volunteers, vendors and sponsors, along with Saturday night’s perfect fall weather, Owl-O-Ween was a hit.
