A fire alarm didn’t lead to a fire, but it did lead an officer to marijuana in a student’s room.
An officer arrived on the scene of the fire alarm at the University Columns on the Marietta campus at nearly 2 a.m. Sept. 27.
After all of the residents evacuated the housing complex, the officer entered the apartment to inspect the situation. No smoke was found in the room where the alarm was assumed to have originated.
As the officer continued the search, marijuana shake and a pipe were found on a counter in the bathroom.
Both roommates explained that their usage of a vaping device was the cause of the fire alarm. One of the roommates confessed and claimed ownership of the drugs and pipe from the bathroom, which was clearly not meant to be found.
Each of the roommates received a citation for illegally smoking on campus, and the owner of the drugs personally destroyed the pipe on command in front of the officer.
